Wordpress Woes

Friday, June 9th, 2006

I have been using this blog software for about two days and I am almost at my limits. I am not sure why I am having so many problems with it, maybe its because I’m running it with php5? Maybe its because I don’t use Internet Explorer, but either way, its got to go.

MP3 Player Project

An early prototype which shows the PIC successfully interfaced with the LCD Module; The SD card is also there, but so far I’ve had limited success with it

As many of you know, earlier this year I decided to begin work on my very own MP3 Player. I decided that as a computer engineering student, we don’t get enough practical experience dealing with the design of actual hardware that we later implement.

After racking my brain for a project idea, I decided to attempt to design my very own mp3 player. I realize that there are already many projects available online, such as minty mp3, the famous Altoids tin mp3 player project, but that would be taking the easy way out; to truly get the value from the project, I decided that I would need to design the system my self from start to finish.

Stay Tuned for more info on this project. In the next few days I’ll post some datasheets, schematics and some more details on exactly what success and failure I’ve had with the project thus far.

Well.. I’ve finally succumb to the pressure.

I’ve gone the stereotypical way of the new mac user and started a blog. I’ve resisted the temptation for so long mainly because I’d rather write my own blog software, despite the fact that in Engineering, re-implementing a solution when one is already readily available is frowned upon.

I am using wordpress, telling myself that this is only a temporary solution. When I have time (not likely to be any time soon at the rate I am going) I will write my own blog software. I look forward to using wordpress and hope to implement some of the features of it in my own blog software.

Eventually I hope to integrate my own web calendar and photo gallery; those pieces of software are even further down my ever increasing list of things to-do.
