Hello Everybody! I am the proud new owner of a MacBook Pro.

Why did I do it? What could possibly compel me to get a non-pc laptop? Well, with an intel mac, I can run Windows and OSX
on the same machine and thus run virtually any piece of software under the sun. Installing Windows was a breeze (easier than installing it on a PC in fact).

So far, I really like OSX. It’s just great; everything simply works as you would expect with no hidden surprises. On top of that, it is very nice looking with lots of strategically placed eye candy. Over the next little while I will be looking into various pieces of Mac software and I may or may not post my progress with that.

I have been using this blog software for about two days and I am almost at my limits. I am not sure why I am having so many problems with it, maybe its because I’m running it with php5? Maybe its because I don’t use Internet Explorer, but either way, its got to go.

I’ve gone the stereotypical way of the new mac user and started a blog. I’ve resisted the temptation for so long mainly because I’d rather write my own blog software, despite the fact that in Engineering, re-implementing a solution when one is already readily available is frowned upon.

I am using wordpress, telling myself that this is only a temporary solution. When I have time (not likely to be any time soon at the rate I am going) I will write my own blog software. I look forward to using wordpress and hope to implement some of the features of it in my own blog software.

Eventually I hope to integrate my own web calendar and photo gallery; those pieces of software are even further down my ever increasing list of things to-do.
